Student Assistant – AI team
The opportunity
How could AI help a policy analyst assess a regulatory proposal for global shipping, a researcher make sense of a pile of reports, or a communications colleague turn an idea into a first draft? We’re looking for a curious student who enjoys figuring things out with people and wants to help colleagues use AI in their everyday work.
We’re setting up a new AI team to strengthen how the Center uses AI, and you’ll be one of its first members. You’ll help build the team’s work from the start.
Who we are
We’re the Mærsk Mc-Kinney Møller Center for Zero Carbon Shipping, an independent, not-for-profit research and development center working to decarbonize global shipping. Our team unites experts from many fields – engineers, economists, analysts, software developers and more – who share a passion for making a real difference. We’re based in Copenhagen but collaborate globally.
Who you are
You’re enrolled in a higher education program. We’re open to different subjects and care less about your specific education than about your abilities. What we need is:
- An analytical, problem-solving mindset. You break unfamiliar problems down, ask good questions and work out what someone needs before jumping to a solution.
- Hands-on interest in AI. You already use AI in your studies, work or personal projects and enjoy finding new ways to use it.
- Good with people. You listen and explain things clearly in English, both in conversation and in writing.
- Drive to learn and follow through. You pick things up quickly, act on feedback and finish what you start.
You don’t need coding skills, maritime knowledge or previous professional AI experience.
What you’ll do
You’ll join our new AI team and work closely with the people building it. Specifically, you will:
- Find where AI helps: Talk with colleagues to understand their tasks and where AI might help.
- Test on real tasks: Try out tools and approaches on real work, checking whether the results are useful and reliable.
- Help colleagues get started: Support them through one-to-one conversations, drop-in sessions and short guides that you build and keep up to date.
- See work through: Take smaller tasks and projects through to completion and bring recurring problems back to the team.
You’ll learn alongside us and gradually take on more responsibility as your skills grow.
Why join us
You’ll be part of a new team from the start and help shape how it works. You’ll learn from experienced colleagues while helping them solve real problems. You’ll see how different teams work and build your own skills in AI and problem solving.
Practical details
Based in Copenhagen. 15 to 20 hours per week, with flexibility around studies and exams.
Apply
Send your CV and a short note explaining why this role interests you and what you would bring to it. We’re interested in how you approach unfamiliar problems, work with people and use AI. Examples from studies, personal projects or work are all welcome.
We interview candidates on a continuous basis and may close the recruitment process once the right candidate is found, so please apply as soon as possible.
